Business Mission Accompanying Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Mr. Jan Skopeček to the Philippines

February 13-17. 2023: Manila, Davao, Panglao – Philippines

On 13-17 February, representatives of the WASTen cluster and the Chamber of Commerce took part in the accompanying mission of the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jan Skopeček, to the Philippines.

The mission included two business forums with Philippine companies, bilateral meetings of companies and talks with representatives of local authorities and municipalities. The delegation was led by Michal Štefl, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce. Domestic businesses were supported directly in the Philippines by the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Jan Skopeček, who was accompanied by the business delegation to the country on his official visit with the Chamber of Deputies Economic Committee.

On Monday, 13 February and Tuesday, 14 February, the cluster held individual meetings with companies. The first business forum and networking took place on Wednesday morning 15 February. On the same day, the delegation flew to Davao, the third most populous city in the Philippines with more than 1.7 million inhabitants, where the entrepreneurs talked with representatives of the local government about business cooperation opportunities. The city serves as a major commercial, logistics and industrial centre. After Thursday’s business forum, the business delegation moved to Panglao Island where they visited the Bohol Electric Cooperative’s hydroelectric power plant.

The 20member business delegation consisted of companies focusing on the development and production of technologies for environmentally friendly disposal and recycling of plastics, sorting and processing of municipal wastes, and industrial ecology.

This mission was successful for the cluster WASTen in terms of establishing new and strengthening existing contacts. Thanks to this trip, we are confident of continued business relations between the Czech and Philippine sides.
